For the artistic research and exhibition project “Rattenlinien/lineas de ratas”, we are investigating the escape routes and subsequent careers of criminals from the German Nazi regime in South America and the traces they left behind in the territory. In doing so, we map movements and their continuity with today's neo-fascist structures, which we work out artistically.
We confront the hegemonic official archive with its deliberate gaps and imperial narratives by using a montage method that integrates an-archival fragments of local ecologies.
On our journey through southern Chile and Argentina, we applied strategies of documentation and speculation, interweaving myths, memories and narratives. Through interviews, sound, image and video recordings, archival material as well as performative interactions and interventions on site, field recordings, found objects and 3D scans, we explored the underlying traces that point to today's fascist and colonialist structures. With a materialist approach of an affective ecology, we encountered the various actors of the territory.
